Maxine Ellis - Principal

Miss Maxine trained and qualified as an IDTA and ADA Dance teacher at Liverpool Theatre School under the guidance of Norah Button before a career as a professional dancer took her around the world. Since settling back in the UK, she has helped transform the stage school, which began in the basement of a house in Upper Parliament Street in 1939, into a national centre of excellence that is accredited by the CDMT (Council for Dance, Drama and Musical Theatre) as well as Trinity College London and more recently became an approved centre for the ISTD. Miss Maxine has established a dynamic learning environment at Liverpool Theatre School, which was rated ‘outstanding in all areas’ during a recent Ofsted inspection.

Since 2011 Miss Maxine has been sole Principal at Liverpool Theatre School and is committed to nurturing the next generation of performers and encouraging young people to reach their full potential. Miss Maxine and her team at Liverpool Theatre School have trained thousands of the city’s young performers to work at a professional level with graduates going on to star in hit shows such as Wicked, Blood Brothers, Les Miserables, The Book of Mormon, Tenors of Rock and Frozen.In 2018 Miss Maxine took over Studio 76 and in 2019 the two schools moved to the newly created Liverpool Central Studios. Miss Maxine has created a central hub where the city’s young performers can access the highest standard of training in musical theatre, dance and acting. Liverpool Central Studios boasts some of Merseyside’s finest performing arts training facilities and the centre of excellence attracts some of the industry’s most respected teachers and guest tutors from around the country.
