Liverpool Theatre School (LTS) offers professional musical theatre training to students of sixteen years old and above who show potential and talent in musical theatre performance. LTS was established in 1939 and is now one of only three schools in the North of England to offer the Diploma in Professional Musical Theatre validated by Trinity College London and funded by the Dance and Drama Awards Scheme.
Students choose LTS because of both its reputation and location in Merseyside. Liverpool has a deep tradition of theatre, music, musical theatre and performance. LTS commands strong support within the industry, Patrons and advisors include; Anita Dobson, Wayne Sleep, Bill Kenwright, Graham Bickley, Ken Dodd, Martin Dodd CEO UK Productions. The college is regularly visited by professional bodies such as Trinity College London (TCL) and the Council for Dance Education and Training (CDET). TCL and the CDET both continue to validate and accredit LTS and its professional course.
Liverpool Theatre School produces musical theatre performers who, on graduation, have been given a wide range of skills to ensure that they are ‘industry ready’ to enter a profession which is increasingly demanding and diverse.
Students are successful in gaining good employment on graduation. Destinations include the West End, UK tours, cruises, pantomime, TV, film and theatre work. Students receive excellent careers guidance and audition preparation enabling them to gain employment in the industry. A high percentage of the graduates leaving LTS in July 2015 have already gained employment and/or an agent.
