Our aim is to produce musical theatre performers and actors that have the skills, knowledge and attitude to be successful in an increasingly demanding profession. LTS staff and graduates have an excellent reputation within the industry. Recent success stories include Oliver Ormson performing in the Addams Family UK Tour, Mike Eborall performing in Miss Saigon UK Tour and Tommy Sherlock headlining the Tenors of Rock in Las Vegas.

Established in 1939, Liverpool Theatre School specialises both in professional musical theatre training to students aged sixteen and over, and acting training to students aged eighteen and over. We are one of only three schools in the North of England to offer the diploma in Professional Musical Theatre validated by Trinity College London and funded by the Dance and Drama Awards Scheme. In addition, we are the only institution in Merseyside validated by Trinity College London to provide the Diploma in Professional Acting.

Students at LTS who are 19 and over are eligible to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan. The college is regularly visited by professional bodies such as Trinity College London and the Council for Dance Education and Training.

So what makes LTS unique? Our students all get individual professional attention which focusses their individual skills and talents to lead them to a successful career in musical theatre or acting. In addition, students receive excellent careers guidance and audition preparation enabling them to gain employment in the industry. Destinations include the West End, UK tours, cruises, pantomime, TV, film and theatre work.

Deeply embedded within Liverpool’s artistic heritage, we have a strong support within the industry, our patrons and advisors include; Anita Dobson, Wayne Sleep OBE, Bill Kenwright, Graham Bickley, Sir Ken Dodd OBE, Ricky Tomlinson, Martin Dodd CEO UK productions.

It is crucial to be given a chance and feel confident about who you are as an artist. I have met dozens and dozens of students from the top 2/3 London musical theatre schools who were not even involved in their showcase. They didn’t do a step of dance or sang a single note because there was simply too many of them in the class and were not given the chance to show who they were during the duration of their course. LTS gave everyone a chance. That was the case throughout the three-year course. We ALL sang solos on a weekly basis if front of each other, we ALL had a part in the plays we were putting on, and we were ALL dancing. When you are then, out there, at auditions, it helps tremendously.
